A Table Before Me in the Presence of All: A Testament of Triumph
There are moments in life when we find ourselves surrounded—not by love and support, but by opposition, envy, and forces that wish to see us falter. These are the moments that test our resolve, our faith, and our understanding of who we are. Yet, amidst the tension, there is a profound truth that remains unshaken: the divine provision that elevates us beyond the grasp of our adversaries.
This truth is the heartbeat of my sculpture, A Table Before Me in the Presence of All. It is a testament to triumph, a visual narrative of spiritual abundance in the face of adversity, and a celebration of grace that overflows even when the world seems intent on pulling us down.
The Genesis of the Piece
The inspiration for this work came from a place of deep reflection and gratitude. I found myself drawn to a passage that has resonated across generations, a verse that speaks of divine favor and unshakable provision:
“You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.”
These words carried me back to my childhood—a time of innocence, discovery, and the first inklings of life’s complexities. Growing up in a home shared with extended family, I witnessed the duality of human nature. There were moments of warmth and unity, but also undercurrents of rivalry and silent tension. It was in these moments that I began to understand the quiet battles we all face: the unseen struggles, the subtle betrayals, and the resilience required to rise above them.
From this reflection, the vision for A Table Before Me took shape. It became a physical manifestation of spiritual abundance, a reminder that even in the presence of opposition, we are never forsaken.
The Vision Behind the Sculpture
At the heart of this piece lies the depiction of a feast—a powerful symbol of abundance, celebration, and divine favor. The sculpture features two dining tables, each representing a distinct realm. The smaller table, centered within the grander one, signifies the divine banquet—a sacred space of joy and provision, untouched by the ill will of those who surround it. Encircling this inner table is a golden shield, a symbol of protection and repulsion against negative energies.
The larger table, expansive and imposing, represents the world around us—a space where adversaries may gather, yet remain powerless to disrupt the abundance within. The juxtaposition of these two tables invites the viewer to contemplate the unseen dynamics of favor, protection, and provision. It challenges us to consider the ways in which we are upheld, even when the world seems intent on pulling us down.
Spanning an impressive 8ft x 8ft, the sculpture is designed to command space and attention. It is intended for suspension from a ceiling or mounting against a bare wall, allowing the observer to fully immerse themselves in its presence. The scale and positioning are deliberate, creating an experience that is both intimate and awe-inspiring.
A Testament to Grace
A Table Before Me is more than a piece of art; it is a declaration. It speaks of triumph in the face of adversity, of being uplifted even when others seek to diminish us. It is a reminder that true honor does not come from the approval of the crowd but from a higher realm, where grace flows ceaselessly, and blessings overflow beyond measure.
This sculpture is a celebration of resilience, a tribute to the unseen forces that sustain us, and a call to recognize the abundance that surrounds us, even in the most challenging of circumstances. It is a testament to the power of faith, the beauty of grace, and the unyielding strength of the human spirit.
